Team Fortress 2 artwork and plushie

I recently purchased the Railroad (Team Fortress 2) Litho print. Have to admit the quality of the print is awesome and now takes pride of place on my bedroom wall. You can also see my collection of Valve plushies :) the only one i’m currently missing is the companion cube.

Some website updates as well, first major one was updating to wordpress 2.5 and i’ve also fixed the issue with my site breaking in IE5.5 and IE6 by using overflow: hidden;.

All work and no running makes me…FAT

Running Route1
So with the weather getting a bit warmer I’ve started to run again. The above image shows one of my current routes. The red line shows the first stage of my run, the blue line shows the second stage and the cyan line shows my cool down walk back home.

It’s a total of about 4 miles. Currently I’m running roughly 9 minute miles, so 35-40 minutes start to finish. Not my best, but not a bad start after 4 months of sitting on my ass in the pub drinking beer :).

St Patrick’s day

Gem & Me in St Albans O’neils
This Monday was St Patrick’s day…which is pretty much an excuse for everyone to get smashed and Guinness to make a fuck load of money. One thing that always entertains me is how all of sudden everyone some how has Irish roots.

Now Guinness is not easy to drink, it’s like blending up a Sunday roast and serving it in a pint glass. But it seems common practice now that if you manage to down 4 pints of the stuff, you’re rewarded with a cheap felt hat (see above picture) most likely made on mass in China. How very Irish.

We purchased our first 4 pints only to be told they had run out of hats. Apparently the 100’s that were stapled to the wall in order to dress the pub couldn’t be taken down. So i took it upon my self to steal a couple off the wall. Unfortunately some other people had the same idea and i lost out to bigger boys.

Gem insisted that she needed a hat to complete her first every…legal…St Patrick’s day. So i did what every good boyfriend would have done. I sat back down and finished my pint. Lucky for me a very jolly man with green face paint was handing out extra hats, Gem was every so slightly please when i returned hat in hand…i think she was drunk, but assured me otherwise. (i will get hurt when she reads this)

p.s, I’ve now actually made it onto the photo wall inside the pub…i think it’s time to visit another pub.

Earthquake upsets bored house wives

by Chris on February 28th, 2008 @ 6:21 pm - Tag (Life) 1 Comment. 893 Views

The 27th of February will go down in history not as “the strongest earthquake to hit Britain in 25 years”, but as the day we had too hear from Joanna Smith, Manchester, who provided us with such factual information as “It was really bad.”.

Jemma wasn’t the only one to provide us with such award winning facts, so don’t get your knickers in a twist thinking I’m picking on her. Just to show I’m not sexist…but just liked the my choice in title, here’s what Philip Norton, a BBC reporter for Look North in Hull, said: “Everything started wobbling.”. FANTASTIC STUFF.

The BBC just seem to fill half of there articles these days with awful comments from “regular” people. It’s like reading The Sun sometimes. Why on earth do i want to hear how a house wife of 3 spilled her glass of vodka during a earthquake.

We had an earth quake and stuff shock, that’s all there is to it. But it did make me think, how many kids will now think a monster lives under the bed. I made it my personal goal to tell at least 5 children that day about the bed shaking monster. I believe I’ve succeed in scaring a few of them for life.

Why not share your experience and leave a comment…

World of Warcraft: The Burning CrusadeI’m coming to you live from the boggy shores of Zangarmarsh in Outland and i must say it’s a war zone down here kids.

Yep, that’s right you’ve lost me to the world which is Warcraft…again. Over the Xmas and the new year with a lot of down time during the day i log back into my account and got the bug again :( . I’m making an effort to limit my play time, so normal service should resume. If you fancy joining me in some PVP you can find me on Khadgar. My main characters name is Axera.

I’m going to try and make regular post from now on. :)

Ice Hockey

On Wednesday i took a trip to Alexandra Palace to meet with some of guys who play for the London Legion. Luckily i turned up on a game night and got to see them play. I really liked what i saw and they seemed pretty keen on me joining up. So i just need to get some ice time to see if i can still skate and buy the kit.

If anyone knows someone at NikeBauer or RbkHockey that might be able to give me mates rates on some gear let me know. :)

Slackering off

by Chris on November 26th, 2007 @ 1:11 pm - Tag (Games, Life) 2 Comments. 0 Views

New PC Picture
So I’ve been slacking off recently with updating my blog. Most of my evenings have been taken up with building my new computer, which i might add is now complete. It’s a beast that I’ve fittingly named ‘Hellish Moose’, specs below.

Case - Zalman GT1000
Cool - Zalman Reserator XT (D-Tek Block)
PSU – Galaxy 850W
Screen - Dell 2407WFP-HC
Mobo - Evga A1
CPU - QX6850
GPU - Evga 8800GTX BP
RAM - Quad2X4096-8500C5DF
HDD - 2xRaptorX 150gb (in Raid0)
SPU - X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

3DMark06 – 13,350 (no oc)

So naturally with a spanking new computer i bought a load of new system demanding PC games. Of course Crysis was first on my list to see how badly it would bring my computer to it’s knees, also UT3 for some chaotic fun and then CoD4…and here the problems start.

Steam as of late has done a fantastic job of impressing me. The launch of Orange box was smooth, the addition of community features was fantastic. So with that in mind i purchased CoD4 over steam. It download an ran perfectly…for the first two days, then i was hit with the most informative error message…EVER. “This game is currently unavailable”, sorry come again?! This isn’t a MMO, nore does CoD4 have an online profile, so why can’t i play a game that sitting on my hard drive.

There were many solutions going around to fix the problem but nothing definitive. In the end changing the language to french then back to English worked for me, can’t tell you why but it did. So it ran once again, then Punk Buster updated and now see’s Steam’s overlay as a hack, Punk Busters advice…Turn it off. Awesome integration there guys. Then Punk Buster moaned about Kaspersky blocking one or more of it’s connections. Again Punk Busters advice…turn it off. Yes I’m really going to do that.

I finally figured out that the only thing interfering with Punk Busters was the Proactive Defense program for the registry. So i just have to remember to disable that when playing CoD4, or not play on Punk Buster enabled servers which are few and far between. Not ideal but it’s a quick fix to play such an awesome game.

I just hope Punk Buster and Steam communicate a bit more with each other to solve this problem quickly and create a system of testing for future updates.

Still here

Aaaaah it’s been awhile since I’ve updated my blog, but I’m sure the reason why is pretty obvious. I’ll keep this short. We had the funeral on Wednesday, so i can sort of relax a bit now. It will just take time to understand the feelings and emotions i have, but thanks to everyone for putting up with my random moods and thanks to all of you who sent me a message. Really appreciate it.

Will have some video of the GuitarHero 3 and Unreal Tournament 3 Launch events that took place last week up in the next post.

Whats been going down

by Chris on November 4th, 2007 @ 10:47 pm - Tag (Life) 3 Comments. 354 Views

So I’ve been pretty quiet recently and off the radar. Their are a few reason for this, one and the biggest is that on Wednesday 31st of October my Granddad passed away in hospital. It’s sad but at the same time I’m kind of happy, he had made it to the mighty fine age of 93. But his quality of life was so low that I’m pleased he is at peace now. I wont go to much into this as I’ve always tried to keep emo crap off my blog. But it’s kind of funny, i was at his side when he died. I’ve never seen anyone die before, I’m sure I’ve seen dead bodies when I’ve been in hospitals before but to actual see someone go from living too…well not, is something very different. It’s left me with a very uneasy feeling.

So what else is going on, well I’m starting a new site. It’s game modification related, the idea is still in it’s infancy but I’ll keep you update on my progress here. I’ve also started building my new gaming rig, got everything stacked up in boxes behind me. Just waiting on the RAM and CPU to turn up then it’s all systems go for Crysis. I’m rather glad a lot of good games are coming out over the next few months. I need to keep my ass in doors and away from pubs…or at least buying rounds :P.

I’m recently been playing Zelda on the DS. I have to admit it’s fantastically good. I’ll drop a full review here about it when I’ve finished. I also managed to trade in all my old PS2 and XBOX games at GAME. I got about 86 quid for it all which will help fill the hole in my wallet :). I’m going to start running again as well…I’ve stopped a few months ago because there was so much going on. But now I’m a little less stressed out I’m going to carry on running and dust off the old punch bag in the garage :).

Oh one more thing, CoD4 this week ;). Make sure you check out some of the Halloween videos that have been put up.
