A few weeks back i decided it would be an awesome idea to give my phone a quick wash, while still in my jeans pocket. As you can imagine the phone didn’t really agree with my thinking on this one and refused to work after a few cycles in the washing machine. I got a replacement pretty quickly for a tasty £120 from my service provide (that 18 month contract looks less appealing now and the optional insurance looks very appealing). Just to add the situation i hadn’t backed up my contacts in a very long time.
I started looking around for a data retrieval service in the hope i might be able to recovery my contacts. After searching Google one lunch time i came across www.datarecoverycorp.co.uk who had the all important tag line “No Data. No Charge.” Fantastic that means i have nothing to loose. I sent my phone off and got a quote back within a few days…£325 to recover the 32mb Memory on the phone :|. Now i’m only 22, in my first job and while my wage is ok i don’t have £325 to just drop on a few contacts. So i took them up on the “No Data. No Charge.” offer and asked for my phone to be returned, but it would cost me £25 for postage and handling.
SAY WHAT? I sent the phone to them via special delivery which took me all of 5 mins at a cost of £4.20 so i’m truly fucked off that this wasn’t made clear to me at the start. So be warned and take the wise old mans advice “if it looks to good to be true it most certainly fucking is”. If you’re reading this looking opinion on datarecoverycorp.co.uk…well they were polite and helpful but bare in mind that whatever happens you will have to part with £25.
If anyone knows of a good/cheap data recovery service in the UK please drop me a link.

So like i said after a nights work we returned to our tents for a couple of cans. While discussing life the universe and girls (Hi Kayleigh) we over heard a slight disagreement no more then 10 feet away from our tents. We listened in trying to figure out what the hell was going on between this guy and girl. After debating whether or not we should get involved we moved up to the gates with the security guards, in the hope of finding out what was going on. According to the two security guards this fight had been going on all night, they believe that on the walk back to their caravan the guy had lost a £20 note and was blaming the girl. Fine, we offered the guys at the gate some beer, sat back and watched.
The longer we sat and watched the more this didn’t make sense. We’ve all been pissed over stupid things while drunk but never has something lasted so long. As more security guards pulled up in their trucks to watch the early morning entertainment, we took it upon ourselves to stumble over a little closer to find out the true story. As we started to make our move into the car park the guy burst out of the caravan and proceeded to let the air out of the tyres of her car while shouting “You’re making me do this, why are you making me do this. You’re just embarrassing me”. He then locked the car and ran off into a tent…Be-fucking-zarre. The girl sat their for a second then disappear only to return with a crow bar, she then smashed every window of HER car and sat in the drivers seat. Seconds later the guy return unlocked the car and told her she could have just asked and he would have opened it. We were pretty drunk by now and it was about 5 in the morning so we were giggling like school children. We took note of who the girl gave the crow bar back to and walked over to ask her what was going on. It turns out that this girl was sucking off him off and pulled away half way through and refused to finish him. AWESOME.
The final day went pretty much like the rest, only this time i was closing Download. That’s right i was the last performance of the night, even after Iron Maiden (who were shit by the way). So…i technically had Iron Maiden open for me :). Me and Leo took to the stage with Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the name of. It went down well with the crowd, we only had about 3 cans thrown at us. I took one to the knee, not quiet as good as Byron’s can to the head or balls but still a story to tell the kids.
I have to admit when i first choose to do this i was dreading it…if you were to ask me now if i would do it again…i think i would say yes. See you at Download 2008 :).

That night was opened with Guns N’ Roses by Simon Byron and Leo, as you can imagine it went down great and filled the tent. Once they had finished we started to invite members of the public up on stage, on the whole they were all pretty good. But as the night went on and the drink kicked in people gradually got worse. The crowd noticed this and took it upon themselves to bottle the players ever time they fucked up a note. I kid you not the stage was covered in can’s and bottle by the end of the night.
Go to 1:20 in on the video to see some bottle action. http://youtube.com/watch?v=aFADqWkia9s
The next day we got canceled sadly, we suspected foul play but were glad for the night off. I spent the day with Kayleigh watching the bands play. Nothing much of interest happened that day, the headliner for the night was My Chemical Romance…they didn’t go down so well. Bottles started flying as soon as they went on stage. I woke up the next day to the words “My god, someone has taken a shit in the shower”. We would later find out that this was ok, when a sign appeared on the showers saying “Please don’t shit in the showers anymore”…because it was ok before? My days stayed the same, they were spent watching bands getting drunk and sitting in the sun.
The headline for that night was Linkin Park, one of my favourite bands. I manged to drag Kayleigh and one of her mates along to that while forcing them to listen to me badly sing along to the songs. I also owe Kayleigh £10 from that night. I made a bet on one of her rubbish impressions and lost :). After Linkin Park we heading back to stage2 to prepare for Guitar Hero that night, things went well. Not as many bottles this time, but we did get a mosh pit going. Who’d have thought “two wankers with plastic guitars” (as one of the girls from the show on after us happen to mention to me without knowing who i was) could get such a big crowd. After we finished for the night returned back to our tents to relax and have a couple of drinks, little did we know we were in for some late night entertainment.

A friend of mine recently setup her own Story book/Scrap book business. Now it all sounded rather girly to me, but after viewing some examples and finding out that scrap booking was not just some paper and glue i decided to have one made up. I had recently come back from a trip to Toronto and had a loads of photos just sitting around, this seemed like the perfect way to display my them. I’m pretty rubbish when it comes to making things look pretty and cutting stuff out, so i asked Amanda to design the inside for me. I gave her a rough idea of what i wanted and a few lines to go under specific pictures.
While i know I’m slightly biased i would seriously recommend anyone who has a bunch of pictures from a holiday or just a general collection of pictures to have ago at this. The quality is brilliant, the look and feel of the books are up to the same standard as a high quality photo album. I will try and follow up with some good photos of the books.
Details on how to contact her to follow.

As some of you might know and for some bizarre reason even to my self i decided i would go to Download Festival this year (Pretty girl said it would be cool). This was my very first festival EVER and i think it’s safe to say i was more then little nervous especially as i was pretty much going on my own. I have to admit i almost pulled out, i only new one other person going and she was there with her own friends. So about three weeks before the festival i found out that Guitar Hero will be making an appearance on the 2nd stage over the whole weekend. Fantastic, i throw my hand up before the words had even finished coming out of the mouth of my boss. Why had my pre festival nerves gone all of a sudden i hear you ask…well…VIP/STAFF access and all the beer i could drink plus sharing a camping area with the security was a much added safety bonus, perfect.
So after arriving and finding the patch of grass we would call home for the next few days we set up camp, still a bit unsure if we were in fact in the right place, what with being the only ones in the field. The image above, beer can in hand would become a very common pose over the next 4 days. We sat out side our tents for awhile drinking beer pointing at all the freaks and holding the up most respect for women by quietly pointing out to each other who we “would” and “wouldn’t” while waiting for the queues to go down so we could enter.
Once we got in we all agreed that it was time for another beer before heading down to stage 2 to check out where we would be playing Guitar Hero later that night. After working out what we needed to do for that night we thought it was about time to grab another beer, little did they know i had been in constant contact with a girl since i arrived. With a fresh beer in hand i took it upon my self to leave the old guys behind and chill with my only friend at the festival all the while trying to ignore text messages from my boss asking ”Have you done her yet
lol”.
I took in some of the sites, went on a tea cup ride, hand some more beer visited the real camp site where all the commoners where then after all that it was about time to hit the stage…ROCK ON!
